How many of you remember the Snack Shack
that was on the Nazarene Acres Campgrounds?
It was a great place to get a juicy
hamburger or a cold drink.... not so fun for
the workers that put in many a long hour
feeding hungry campers and delegates.
Churches did not have central air or
window air conditioners. Instead,
cardboard fans were provided in all of the
racks that were located on the back of the
pews. Most of these fans were donated
by the local Funeral Home. This did
have a way of making you contemplate your
mortality while the preacher was warning you
to prepare your soul for the afterlife!
You learned to sew on a machine that
required you to pump your feet on a large
grate at the bottom of the machine.
The faster you pumped the faster you could
sew!
No electricity required.
